I absolutely devoured Pierce Browns debut reading for hours at a time even skipping dinner in order to finish the book during a frenzied four-hour reading binge. Darrow was born a Red down in the mines of Mars a Helldiver risking his life daily to provide for his family a decent meal and a tolerable life. Theres not much depth here which is fine if youre after an action-fest.
Without giving anything away this book was an amalgamation of Lore Hunger Games Percy Jackson and Divergent as well as Roman History and mythology in all the best ways. But with all the hype this series has received I was hoping for more. I loved hour review. Dark Age by Pierce Brown is epic on every level this is a novel of loss sacrifice redemption heart break political moves and tyranny. When Iron Gold was released in early 2018 it was clear that Pierce Browns ability to craft a riveting story with amazing character development had grown far beyond the original Red Rising trilogy a trilogy that was already populated with characters who inspired strong feelings on all points of the lovehate spectrum.
